What We Support
Founded in 1922, the El Segundo Woman’s Club will celebrate 100 years of service to the community. A member of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the organization collaborates to support the communities in which we live and work, as well as national and international projects. The Club enthusiastically welcomes anyone who has an interest in serving and a desire to volunteer to help those in need throughout the community.
Together we make a difference!
Education
“Happiness is seeing the smile on a child’s face as they learn”

Since the Club’s inception in 1922, supporting education has been a primary focus of our fundraising efforts. Have you purchased Cascaroni’s “Confetti Eggs” at the El Segundo 4th of July celebration? The members work all year long to create the colorful eggs and the proceeds benefit El Segundo High School scholarships for graduating seniors. The members fundraise for other education programs including: The El Segundo High School Choirs, El Segundo Education Foundation, Girls Who Code, El Segundo summer library reading program and Box Tops for Education.
Military
Club members spend countless hours volunteering to support our troops through the many military support organizations in our community. Members actively volunteer for the Bob Hope LAX USO and MEPS USO.
Members wrote letters to honor a WWII Honor Flight honoree, baked goodies as a salute to El Segundo first responders, cut coupons that were sent to deployed military through the Coupons for the Military program, supported Team Rubicon, created quilts for wounded warriors, created paracord bracelets for active military and filled boxes for Operation Gratitude.
Community
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." – Coretta Scott King
The club has supported the local community for nearly 100 years. As we prepare to celebrate our centennial in May, 2022 the lasting legacy of community support is a hallmark of our philanthropic efforts. The Woman’s Club members through our active volunteers support the El Segundo Car Show, El Segundo Chamber of Commerce events, Mychal’s Learning place, SPCA, El Segundo C.A.S.E, El Segundo Parks and Recreation, and the El Segundo Holiday Parade. The members are a welcome sight at local events.
The historic clubhouse is a perfect location to host community events. In collaboration with the League of Women Voters we host local candidate forums to support local elections and invite the community to attend.

During the early stages of the COVID 19 pandemic, the members rallied community support and created over 1,200 cloth masks that were donated to frontline workers throughout the South Bay and as far as a Children’s Hospital in Washington DC.
Environment
Since the 1940’s the club has continuously donated to the Penny Pines reforestation program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. During monthly meetings little red buckets decorated with pines are passed around the club to be filled with donations. Through these donations, the Club is able to donate to the Penny Pines program to support California’s vast forests.
Supporting Children
Supporting the Environment
Buddy Benches serve as an emotional space for school playgrounds. If a child is feeling sad, left out and just needs someone to talk to, they have a place to go and sit. The El Segundo Woman’s Club in partnership with other South Bay non-profits and service clubs support the local Buddy Bench program. It takes roughly 400 lbs. of recycled bottle caps to create a bench. Members collect pounds of bottle caps to create benches for the children of our community.

Arts and Music
“I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.” – Joan Miro

The El Segundo Woman’s Club has a long history of supporting the arts and arts education and the tradition still continues. We host concerts and performances at the Clubhouse and annually support El Segundo Unified School District music and choral programs.
International
The Club annually supports several international charities including The Peach Foundation, who helps under privileged children in China thrive and move beyond poverty. An El Segundo business owner and South Bay resident, visits China to support the children. During a recent visit, the El Segundo Woman’s Club supported the Foundation by gathering needed clothing and donations.
